Editing the name in an Info window will cause the current item to be renameed when the Apply or Save buttons are used. If the Info window was opened for multiple items, the following rules apply when the Change All button is used:
- If only the name’s extension has been changed, all remaining items in the Info window will be given that extension.
- If any part of the filename other than the extension has been changed, File Buddy attempts to rename every file in the Info window to the new name. If any of the items reside within the same directory, only one of them will be renamed.
The Change All button applies changes to unprocessed items only. If a renaming command in the Actions toolbar item menu is used, it will be applied to all items for which the Info window was opened.
Changing the extension of a file may cause it to open in a different application, or to not open at all, so be careful when changing the extension on multiple files.
